Family Friday on Wednesday: Slater/Webb

This photograph of my maternal grandparents, Harry and Anna (Webb) Slater, is one of a group of pictures taken in 1953

They're posed in front of the Crest House, a restaurant and gift shop built at the top end of the Mount Evans Scenic Byway. Sadly the building caught fire in 1979 and only the indestructible rock and concrete parts remain.

[Historic postcard of Mount Evans Crest House, circa 1950. The reverse of the postcard reads, "No. 3009 - Mount Evans Crest House, alt. 14,260 ft. at top of Mt. Evans on the Mt. Evans Highway, Denver Mountain Parks, Colo. Source: Wikipedia ]

Note: Why is there a Family Friday photo today? Because Friday, September 11, is the 238th anniversary of the Battle of Brandywine and I'll be doing a post on that day about my ancestor Abraham Heath who was there.
